THE MOTOR VEHICLE REPORT
Securitech recommends clients obtain motor vehicle reports (MVR) for the following reasons:
- The driving record serves as an additional source of identifiers as well as verification of name, date of birth, and current residence.
- The MVR discloses prior licenses held in other states in which you may want to request a criminal search.
- The MVR may reveal undesirable character traits or patterns of behavior (i.e. repeated traffic violations, DUI, DWI, etc.)
For persons who may drive either their own vehicles or a company vehicle in the course of their jobs, it is imperative to verify they hold a current, valid driver license as well as verify the applicant’s driving record history.
We advise clients to obtain driving records no less than annually for company couriers and others who expose the company to liability while driving. Securitech can provide annual MVRs to clients upon request for a nominal fee.
Securitech provides an Arizona 39-month Motor Vehicle Record. Out of State Motor Vehicle Records may be obtained from non-restricted states. All records are requested and maintained in compliance with the Drives Privacy Protection Act (DPPA). The DDPA (Driver’s Privacy Protection Act, 8 U.S.C., 2721, is a federal law that regulates the disclosure and use of certain information obtained from motor vehicle records. It restricts to whom, and for what purpose certain information can be disclosed. It restricts how the recipients of information can use or re-disclose this information. Securitech currently provides information to end users for employment purposes only. You must keep a record of the disclosed information and the permitted purpose for which it was used. Federal law requires that these records be retained for a period of five years.
Motor Vehicle Records must only be requested for exclusive purpose of employment, promotion, reassignment or retention as an employee, as outlined in section 604 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Securitech clients must prohibit its employees from obtaining any reports on themselves, associates or any other person except in the exercise of their official duties.
